Boomi's September 2026 release: Knowledge Hub, Claude agents and MCP

Boomi’s quarterly platform release for September 2026 is long, and much of it is the kind of steady improvement integration teams need: new connectors, OpenTelemetry tracing, better file transfer and event streaming. But three areas stand out because they show where Boomi is heading with AI: knowledge for agents, support for agents built elsewhere, and MCP as part of API management.

Knowledge Hub: managed RAG as a platform service

Knowledge Hub, now in early access, is a fully managed retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) service. It handles the whole pipeline: ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector storage and retrieval, with access control, policies and monitoring built in. It supports both structured sources (Snowflake, NetSuite, Salesforce, SAP) and unstructured ones (SharePoint, Confluence, S3), and it is integrated with Agentstudio.

This matters because RAG is where many AI projects stall. Teams build their own pipelines, and then struggle with access control and keeping the index up to date. An integration vendor offering RAG as a managed service is a logical step: it already has the connectors and the data flows.

Microsoft announced something similar for Logic Apps at Build 2026 (Knowledge as a Service). Expect this to become a standard feature of integration platforms.

Agents built elsewhere

In Agentstudio, Agent Garden and Control Tower now have native support for Anthropic Claude Managed Agents, with metadata synced automatically. Coming later this autumn: deploying agents anywhere with bring-your-own-model, runtime metrics and observability, and automatic registration of Boomi agents in Control Tower.

The direction is clear: the integration platform wants to be the place where agents are registered and governed, whoever built them. Expect the other large iPaaS vendors to move the same way.

MCP in API management

The MCP Registry in Boomi’s API management gets server refresh, lifecycle status, multi-endpoint queries and syncing with Anthropic’s registry. Boomi Connect adds MCP proxy connectors for NetSuite, Gong and Boomi Integration, among others.

Treating MCP servers as governed assets alongside APIs is the right instinct. MCP servers need versioning, access control and lifecycle management, just like APIs.

• Boomi Orchestrate is now generally available, with solution graphs that can be built from Marketplace recipes and edited on a canvas.
• Meta Hub gets an AI-assisted business glossary with expert endorsement, and Universal Lineage (early access) for end-to-end data lineage. The glossary can be used to ground agents in the organisation’s own definitions.
• OpenTelemetry support is extended to inbound trace propagation and infrastructure metrics, which makes it easier to follow a transaction across Boomi and other systems.

What it means for Boomi customers

For existing customers, the most practical items are the observability improvements and the connector updates, which can be used right away. The AI features are more strategic. Knowledge Hub and the business glossary address the question of what agents should know, and Control Tower addresses who they are and what they may do.

As with all early-access features, test before you plan around them. Ask Boomi when Knowledge Hub is expected to be generally available, how it is priced, and which regions it runs in if data residency matters to you.
